端蒙历经了风风雨雨，为新加坡培育了不少建国人才，服务于政界、商界、文教界等领域。他们胼手胝足，努力奋斗，心怀祖国之余，也念念不忘母校培育之恩。就在端蒙停办后两年，即1996年初，一群端蒙校友，本着饮水思源、热爱母校的精神，筹组校友会。经过几个月的筹备，校友会在5月28日成立了。从那年起，校友会每年都举办一些有意义的活动，联系同学们的感情。

In 1996, the Tuan Mong Alumni Association was formed. Since then, it has organized a myriad of activities every year to facilitate communication and bonding among the Tuan Mong alumni. The Tuan Mong alumni have responded enthusiastically to the initiatives, and the turn-out for the activities has been very encouraging indeed.

关于我们 About Us

校史端蒙学校

1906年，新加坡的28位潮籍先贤，有感于潮人子弟激增，有意创办一所潮侨公立学校，供潮籍子弟就读。几经磋商，端蒙学堂于10月1日正式创立，暂时租用禧街门牌52号做为校舍。开学时，仅有两名教员和68名学生。1913年，校舍迁至甲纳基门牌13号，以便容纳更多的师生。1918年，再迁入丁律新校舍。同年11月，学校举办三天学生成绩展览会，参观者摩肩接踵，盛况空前。1919年，确立“勤慎诚正”为校训。1924年，端蒙分校在小坡创立，招收附近的学生。此后十几年，总校与分校并肩发展，校务蒸蒸日上。

二次世界大战期间，日军占领新加坡，学校被逼停办。和平后，端蒙总校与分校继续运作，学生人数鋭增。1955年，总校增设中学部，1958年，更开办高中部，校舍也一再扩建，1962年，巍峨庄严、设备齐全的端蒙总校新校舍落成。

1967年，创校43年的端蒙分校因校址被政府收回另作发展，校长及教职员调任他校，学生除了部分转入总校外，其余都被分配到政府新建的学校肄业。至此，端蒙分校遂正式关闭，而总校则继续负起作育英才的神圣任务。每年培养大批德才俱备、中英兼通的毕业生，为建设新加坡而尽心尽力。

60至70年代，可说是端蒙总校的颠峰期。学校师资阵容日益强大，学校设备也臻至完善，学生在学术与课外活动的表现更是成绩斐然。端蒙一跃成为新加坡顶尖学校之一，是莘莘学子的学习乐园。可惜到了90年代中，由于城市重建，学校因为学生人数逐年递减而不得不停办。劳苦功高的老师无奈地转到他校服务，美轮美奂的校舍虽保留但充作其他用途。从此，端蒙总学也就尾随分校走进了历史。

端蒙总校在停办前几年，也顺应潮流招收一些英文源流的学生，不过在传统上，它是一所典型的华校，具有优良的华校特色。在早期旧校舍礼堂正中的墙壁上，就挂着大幅“万世师表”孔子的画像。好些学生看见画像，都鞠躬行礼。端蒙校训“勤慎诚正”，即说明了学校要灌输学生儒家所重视的个人道德修养。端蒙同等重视学生的学业和品格。学生犯错，按轻重给予惩罚，小则记缺点，大则记过,若记了两次大过，就要受到开除的处分。至于品格优良者，则给予奖励，包括记优点、小功、大功，或颁发奖状等。在60年代，学校还推行一种表扬操行优良学生的制度。从每班选出一位学生，授予“好学生”奖状。虽是一纸奖状，对获奖学生却是一种绝佳的鼓励。

端蒙除了校歌，还有一首运动会歌。歌辞典雅，意义积极。早期学校举行运动会时，健儿们唱了“赫赫兮端蒙”的校歌，接着便唱“大会煌煌”的运动会歌，随即在场上大显身手，崭露锋芒。由于重视运动，端蒙历年在校际的篮球、田径比赛上，得了不少奖牌。早期，端蒙因为拥有一个大运动场，凭着地利，在足球的表现也令人瞩目。

“书法人才出端蒙”，这是本地书法界对端蒙学生的赞语。端蒙学生在书法上的表现，是有目共睹的。这归功于历届校长、老师的鼓励和栽培。陈景昭校长、杨伟群副校长、曾广纬老师等都是本地知名的书法家。在他们的领导和影响下，学习书法成为学校的一种风气。学校每年举办一次全校大楷、小楷比赛，还规定学生每周须交上大楷、小楷若干篇。早期，学生用毛笔写作文，呈交老师批改后，还要用毛笔誊清。在这层层的训练下，难怪出身端蒙的学生，书法都写得不错。

十年树木，百年树人。端蒙历经了风风雨雨，为新加坡培育了不少建国人才，服务于政界、商界、文教界等领域。他们胼手胝足，努力奋斗，心怀祖国之余，也念念不忘母校培育之恩。就在端蒙停办后两年，即1996年初，一群端蒙校友，本着饮水思源、热爱母校的精神，筹组校友会。经过几个月的筹备，校友会在5月28日成立了。在校友会成立庆典的晚宴上，阔别多年的老师和同学齐声唱着庄重严肃的校歌，场面温馨感人！

从那年起，校友会每年都举办一些有意义的活动，联系同学们的感情。这些活动获得校友们的热烈支持。旧校舍开始出现一批批校友的行踪，有关校友会的报道也不时见报，端蒙学校终于重新走进新加坡社会了！

TUAN MONG SCHOOL

Tuan Mong School was set up in 1906 as a primary school by public-spirited Teochew clan leaders. It functioned at the Hill Street premise with only 2 teachers and 68 students. In 1918, it moved to the present Tank Road premise as the number of students increased.

As with schools built by the various clan associations in Singapore, Tuan Mong served the education needs of Teochew children, and was staffed by Teochew teachers using the dialect as the medium of instruction in its early days. It later used Mandarin and also English.

In 1955, Tuan Mong School became known as Tuan Mong High School when secondary levels were included. The enrolment of students became larger gradually.

In 1962, the old building gave way to a brand new structure at the same site. The new building was a combination of eastern and western architecture styles. It incorporated modern features with a striking ancient Chinese-styled tiled roof.

In the 60s & 70s, Tuan Mong became one of the top schools in Singapore. Tuan Mong students performed well both in academic & extra–curricular activities. Tuan Mong students were especially proficient in Chinese Calligraphy. They had won many medals in Inter-School Chinese Calligraphy competitions.

In 1980, the Education Ministry posted four English-stream secondary one classes to the school. However, the school closed on 31 December 1994 due to falling enrolment as more schools were built away from the city area and nearer to housing estates where the bulk of Singapore's population lived.

Although Tuan Mong School has ceased functioning, it had played an important role in the history of Singapore education, and shall always be remembered fondly by all in the Tuan Mong family.

很荣幸的我又再次被推选为校友会理事会的会长，我谨在此向大家致以万分谢意。校友会是大家的，我希望校友们能继续支持校友会，为我们提供您们的宝贵意见，大家齐心尽力的将校友会的活动做得更好，再创高峰。
